New blog!

Well, you guys, it has been a really busy couple of weeks. In addition to my regular CT duties, and home/mommy duties, I have been in the Designer Darling Contest, as you probably already know! Well, it was a hard six weeks, but I learned so much over the course of the contest! I went into the contest hoping to learn something  about designing, because I had only ever made one other kit ever! Well, I must have learned well, because... duh, duh, duuuuuh......

I WON! 

Wow oh wow! I couldn't believe it when I made it the the final round, and then all of the wonderful final entries! And I was one of five ladies who was offered a spot in the Design Team at Stuff to Scrap! I am so excited! And I'm working furiously to get a few extra kits made to have for the grand opening! No word yet on Grand Opening day, but I will let you know soon!

I was so surprised and impressed when another member of one of my CT's told me she had made a page with last week's add-on! She did such a great job, I just had to share it with you! Week 3 Designer Darling Contest Freebie!

Well, it's week 3 at Stuff to Scrap! I have been having such a great time with this contest, and have learned so much! This week we had to get our inspiration from a photo that was given to us in our packet.

So as soon as I saw the photo, I thought of all the great times (and all the complaining we did) while canning peaches in my mom's kitchen. But after looking at the palette, it just kept saying romance to me. Our wedding was blue with a touch of peach, and the color palette reminded me of vintage roses. So I decided to go with a vintage romantic theme. Hope you enjoy it!

Sweet Tea And Cupcakes Cluster and Siggie Freebie!

Well, this is going to be short and sweet because with all of the excitement of designing this week I have neglected my other important tasks, like housework. Who needs a clean house anyway?

But I was playing around with the Sweet Tea and Cupcakes kit that is my submission to the Stuff to Scrap Designer Darling Contest for this week, and came up with this sweet cluster freebie. I made it smaller too for a signature for all of those great forums we hang out in!

Sweet Tea and Cupcakes Mini-Kit Freebie!!!!

Well, here we are again! It has been a CRAZY week! This week's mission was to create a color palette from two colors, and then create a mini kit with no Commercial Use items. Most digital scrapbook papers are made by making a pattern and then adding an overlay to add some texture. Well, when I am designing, I tend to turn to these tools WAY too much! So this week was a real challenge!

I spent the first couple of days figuring out what I wanted my theme and color palette to be. And then I had to figure out how to make my designs look real without relying on CU items. So I went on a search in my house for things I could use for texture on my papers. I tried cloth, cardstock, blankets... you name it I probably tried it! Well, some of my experiments were complete flops, but I was able to make a few textured overlays! Yay! It was a difficult week, but I feel like I learned SO much about design... which is exactly why I am in this contest!

So anyway, you probably don't need to hear about all of my creative adventures, so on to what you really want to see!

The inspiration for this kit came from my love of all things Tea! I have a collection of teapots, and have a cup of hot tea more than occasionally. It is a tradition in our house to have a tea party for almost any special occasion, even when that occasion is just Tuesday! I hear "Mommy, can we have a tea party?" several days a week... and I thought it was fitting to make a kit to commemorate those special moments.

When I figured out what my theme was, I started thinking about what colors would work best for my theme and this is what I came up with:

Designer Darling Contest

Well, it's been such a long time since I've updated my blog, you might have thought I fell off the face of the earth. Not so, but it's been a crazy busy month! The day after Christmas, my family and I left to go south, and did a whirlwind road trip starting in Williamsburg, VA and ending in Orlando, Florida that lasted over two weeks! I have over 1200 pictures to sort through and scrap! Looks like I have my work cut out for me! LOL.

Well, I have signed up for a designer contest, and I am a little nervous, but my goal for this contest is not necessarily to win, but my goal is to learn as much as I can about designing!

So we were given a color pallette and a few simple instructions and we had to choose a theme ourselves. So I actually started designing before I had a theme, and I really wanted to add some birds. And it seemed that whole time I was designing the verses in Luke 12 kept going through my head, about how much more important we are to God than the sparrows of the air and the flowers of the field. So hence the title of my kit! I hope that while you are scrapping with this kit, you remember how much God loves you!
